The story about two french men who left their douce France and risked it all for the American dream.
Ten years ago, Jeremy Andre, age 19, left his hometown Marseille, France and moved to NY. About a month later, Damien Frey, age 24 from Strasbourg, France did the same to follow his heart.
After randomly meeting in a french cafe in Tribeca the day Damien arrived, the two young men in need of accommodation decided to rent an apt together, they picked Weehawken, NJ a prime choice since both were on a tight budget.
With no experience in the restaurant industry, both started as busboy and dishwasher.
Years passed, both learned their way up and built a strong knowledge and experience in hospitality.
In 2014, seeing some friends opening their own restaurant, they decided it was time for them to be their own bosses. With no investors or family inheritance, they used their own savings and signed a lease at 215 union St on a cold March evening.
After four long months of renovation (most of it done by them), La Cigogne (the stork in english) opened its doors on June 9th 2014, just in time for the FIFA World Cup.
Located in Carroll Gardens, one of the best neighborhood in Brooklyn, La Cigogne is open every day. Serving Lunch/brunch & dinner
This french duo combines skills and quality on both ends : creativity and cleverness. Guess who owns which :-)
